the skating party...
So, last night was the Halloween Skating Party for my girls' school. The girls had fun and I thought I'd show a few of the highlights...

Here's Maya in her Black Widow Spider costume. There's actually more to it, a web etc. but that wasn't kosher for skating so we left it off.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Here's both the girls, Anna wanted to do the Chicken Dance in her Giraffe costume...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Had to get a close up of Anna's face make up too...

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

The highlight of MY evening was when Anna got ahold of a full package of candy. She doesn't get a whole package of candy very often because sugar affects her, well badly.

And of course right after, she was HUNGRY. She even took her nacho chips and made a slushie sandwich with them! EWWW. The girl is weird. Then on the way home it was "Did we have dinner yet?" and "Mommy, I think I need a snack".

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Then the judging of the costumes came. Maya was really wanting to win. And, to be honest I wanted her to win too since I had made the costume and thought it was pretty cool. They picked 6 winners who got free tokens. Maya waited patiently to get picked, but she didn't win a spot.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

But the kicker came when Anna won 2nd place for her costume. Poor Maya cried. And, I have to say I felt her pain. We had "Jesus Loves You" parties when I was a kid and since I was the PK I never won the costume contest. But I ALWAYS had the best costume. It was devistating, so I felt her pain. But Anna was stoked!

All in all it was a fun night. Today they are going to Granny's!! And mom is happy cause I can waste my Saturday playing pokah!!

for all you halloween lovers...
I've mentioned before that I love Halloween. I like haunted houses and all the cute and/or scary things associated with Halloween. But, I've never been into scary movies.

I think this comes from my childhood, where of course as the PK was never allowed to participate in Halloween or watch scary movies. Well, not the fake scary movies, as my parents deemed movies such as Children Of The Corn and The Believers AOK cause they dealt with the REAL scariness of our world... THE DEVIL!! (yes, you can take that as sarcastically as you'd like)

Anyhow, this part of my past has caused me not to get into scary movies. Even when I'm forced to watch one by my dear and loving (sw) husband I typically spend most of the movie with a blanket over my face saying "What's happening??!".

To get back on topic I found this FrightWorld The Movie World Premiere. It combines all the best scaaaaaaaary parts of Halloween. It's a bit gory for me, but if you live in NY and are into that sort of thing it looks fun. They have haunted houses, the movie premiere and lots of bands showing up. According to the promoters here are the details "On October 31st the world premiere of FrightWorld the Movie will be held at Frightworld Haunted Amusement. Frightworld Haunted Amusement is regarded as one of the top 13 scream parks in the US. Event includes live music and Q&A with the cast."

If you follow that link you can see more details about the movie as well, including a 30 second clip.

my blog adventures for the day...
I had a little surprise while doing my blog roll today. Panga is back!! Well, I guess she was back a week ago, but it's news to me anyhow. Anyhoo, I'd head over there if I were you, the first two posts are GRAND and I love that video.

Sheila decided to make me hungry... damn you.

Rontard is still doing good posts, I even get a credit! And thanks for the Dixie Chick info, hadn't heard about that!

For all you poker lovers, Bill finally did an update... gg Bill.

The polenblog isn't loading for me, I keep getting an error.

Hrbek is up to his normal antics, always a good read.

And Kate, well there are no words for Kate, she's just that good!

As for the rest of you non-updating losers... NO SOUP FOR YOU!

But anyhow, here's an oldie but goodie from when Colbert was still on the Daily Show...

There is a new web site out there that offers a huge selection of nutritional supplements and natural beaty products from select choice brands. If you are in to the natural product thing, this could be the web site for you!

They also have low pricing and volume discounts on many items. If you go to the link, you can get more detailed information such as, ingredents and supplement facts that other web sites tend to fail to provide or even update on their web sites. With so many new natural remedies coming on the market all of the time, this is an important feature.

If you are a regular customer, N101 Nutrition also offer reward programs. It is a point system where you earn points on each purchase. You can redeem these for discounts or free merchandise.

Their customers also say they place a high priority on customer service, from the time you place the order till it gets delivered!

Joe has had a good interview week. He had an interview at our electric provider yesterday and he felt it went good. It would be a good job for him. Cross your fingers. He's had some others, but only two are jobs he REALLY wants. Altho, I think he would take any of them. The DP&L job he is supposed to find out whether or not he got it today. He was offered one temp position, but it was a 4-6 month job making less than he was, with NO benefits and an hour away. So, he turned it down. Too many bad points and I think he will find something better. He has another interview today, but I'm not sure what for.

Wednesday I went on a major house cleaning frenzy, but it had to be done. Yesterday was a field trip with Anna and all the pre-schoolers to Bonny Brook Farms. It should have been a good time, but 45 degrees and rainy doesn't make for a good trip. It does however make for lots of runny noses and whiney 3 yr olds. Nonetheless, it was a nice farm, with a pumpkin patch and stables where the kids got to see a few animals.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

All the pics here.

I came straight home and took a nap, well after arguing with Miami Valley Hospital about a bill I paid, that they say I didn't pay. It helps to have the check and the date it cleared, but hell, what a pain in the ass.

And here's some pics from last Friday at the pumpkin patch that I forgot to post.

I have an idea... let's be dorks while mommy takes a picture.

We also went to a Halloween Party at Maya's school Friday, another hellacious experience, her school just isn't organized. We were there over 2 hours and got to do 2 things. GG.

Tonight is a Halloween Skating Party for the girls' school. Oh joy. I hate these things for many reasons, but the main reason being, I can't skate. Not that I don't know how to, but I physically can't with my knee, or at least I'm too skeered to. So that should be fun.

Here's a funny pic I stumbled on... oh to dream that my life were this simple:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I played AIPS last night and came in 5th. Blegh.

And I think that's about it. If there's more I can't remember it right now.

home office from hell...
Who knew having a home office from hell could win me something?? Today I was reading my payperpost opportunities and found this! The Home Office From Hell contest... here are the details:

Our 2nd Annual Home Office From Hell contest will begin on 10/23/06.

The Grand Prize winner will receive 12 months of rent (up to $12,000) at any location posted on Offices2Share.com plus a paid trip to New York City to have lunch with Donald Trump's right-hand man and former Co-Star of The Apprentice - George Ross.

There are thousands of dollars in additional prizes from our Corporate Participants - Dell and Trump University.

Entrants should post their top 10 reasons why they need to move out of their home office from hell. They can also upload a video of their hellacious office.

Seriously, mine is SO bad that I try everything in my power NOT to even go out there anymore. Although when I need to file claims and the like, I kinda have to. But now I can actually WIN something with it!! It all started when I moved my "work space" into a space that Joe already used for working on his computers and I used for storage. I never really made it good enough for an office, I just kinda pushed enough stuff away for my desk and fax machine. Ever since it has just gotten worse.

So, when I get time this weekend, I'm gonna enter it. I could win this thing! When I get the video done I will be sure to post it so you can see it too :)

did someone say poker?
Did you know you can play poker with REAL cards?! No mouse, no screen... just a table, felt, deck and chips. Oh, and you need one more thing, PEOPLE!

With the recent redonkulous law, prohibiting banking institutions from dealing with online poker sites, you may see more home games popping up. But some of us have no friends, and of course the internet has just the thing for us... PokerDIY - Connecting Poker Player for Live Games.

It has all the tools you need to set up your very own home game! Creat groups, do invites, you can set it all up online. They even have a commercial that says GADZOOKS in it! You must have really sucked out on this guy zooks, you left an impression...

Oh, and for the home game guys in my area, I think we need to get a cash game going at some point. My house isn't big enough, so get on that would ya??

searching for jacob...
They told us it was because Saddam was a dictator who was killing his people and aiding Al Queida. I'm not saying Saddam didn't commit atrocities beyond our imaginations, but I do question the link to terror.

After watching the follwing clip tonight on 60 minutes, I became even more outraged.

Searching for Jacob

After you watch it, answer me one thing. Why are we in Iraq again??

Exactly.

Same as how they tell us "This Foley scandal is just a Democrat ploy for elections" "If you give democrats power of house and senate nothing will get done" I even heard Bush say in a press conference that if the Democrats get power of the house Congresswoman Polozi (who would be speaker) would raise taxes, and allow terrorism to fluorish! How long are we going to let this administration talk to us like imbiciles?? It makes me sick.

In a White House controlled Congress NOTHING is already getting done, oh wait, I'm wrong... except for molding our foreign policy on what will increase Bush`s (and Co.) portfolio holdings.

If you aren't completely appalled, then you haven't been paying attention.

And if we (Americans) don't stand up for what is right soon, I'm afraid we will be paying the consequences.

best news evah...
For those of you who read my blog and are not part of the poker forum crowd, I have some great news!!

You may remember the fund raisers I have blogged about for Jill Sabsevitz, the wife of our forum administrator, Rich. Jill was diagnosed with AML Leukemia in December, with the perfect timing of being between insurance coverage of course (god bless america). Our poker community was devistated by the news, and started many fundraisers, including a marathon + poker tournament, and an auction to help raise money for Jill's bone marrow transplant.

It turned out not only could Jill not find a donor to match her marrow, but her cancer was not responding to treatment, so she wasn't able to get the transplant anyhow. Time was of the essence and they decided to move everyone up to Minneapolis for an experimental treatment.

She went thru 3 weeks of double massive chemo treatments, and then recieved a stem cell transplant from umbilical cords. They had to wait 3 more weeks (I believe I have the timeline right) before finding out if the treatment worked. And Thursday we found out that JILL IS CANCER FREE!

Jill doesn't even know me, but I am so proud of her. I am thrilled for her and her entire family and wish them all the best.

Darn it now I'm mad at myself, that's five dolla a piece for posting those! GRR.

old ladies need love too...
I've always loved doing yard work. I get it from my mom, she got into gardening when I was a teenager. But nowadays it just makes me feel old, cause the next day I can hardly walk. Of course with my yard it's never "finished" so then not only do I hurt but I have to gumption up the will power to do more the next day.

My motovation for today is that I can't try to convince Joe we need to buy about 5 yards of mulch (and hire someone to lay it) until I get my 200+ bulbs in the ground. So, how bad do I really want that mulch before spring?? That is the million dollar question. I guess we will see.

We watched the "Wizard of Oz" yesterday, twice, right in a row thanks to Anna. Girl knows good movieage when she sees it.

Maya is online right now chatting with Barbie on Barbie.com. I wonder if Barbie is a 45 yr old man. Paranoid.

I won all in or fold last night, thanks to Lillian for splitting with me once we got to HU!! I <3 Lilly. I needed the little br boost.

Pokerslut Tour is tonight, it's Limit HE so should be fun and last to all kinds of ungodly hours for a Sunday night, don't miss it!! Password is imapokerslut and it's played on Full Tilt Poker.

I have some great pics of the 3 girls I need to get to work on, maybe tomorrow.

puzzles!!!
So payperpost.com is doing a contest... a puzzle contest! That's right they aren't limited to blog marketing, they are multi-talented.

It's called payperpostbluemonster. You have to find all the puzzle pieces and the first one to assemble them and put them on a blog wins $500!!

When the puzzle is assembled it will contain a sneak peak into the super secret payperpost program code named "Blue Monster".

I'll get some more puzzle pieces up as they become avaliable.

friday says what?
The girls have khanned me into (LOL I said Khanned!) making French Toast and Bacon for breakfast, but I have to finish my blogging first, you know, priorities n all. They are out of school today because of Parent Teacher conferences, but that's old news.

We are off to the pumpkin patch this afternoon with Harper, then dinner at my sisters (moms making home made chicken n dumplins mmmmm) and then Maya and I are off to a Harvest Party at her school. Anna is supposed to stay with Auntie Bette tonight, altho she may have come to her senses by now about that. But I hope she hasn't.

I meant to register for a HORSE mtt last night, and registered for a $5 NLHE donkfest instead... I actually ended up getting 17th or something like that. I was getting close to 10x or less and this guy to my right kept pushing in with his HUGE stack. I never had anything to call him with, and he did it so frequently he couldn't have a hand every time. So, I called w ATo and he just happened to have AJo, and no miracle for me that time.

Then I played PLO8 in the AIPS event. I was so lost. I love omaha 8, but it is amazing to me how the betting makes such a difference in how the game is played. It was very hard for me. I had a decent stack when I made a bad call. Well, it may not have been that bad. But here is the background. I was CARD DEAD and every time I got a decent hand I would get raised and re raised. So, finally I decided "oh eff it" and made the call and I lost. But I was tired of not getting hands, and when I did get a hand people keep raising so you have to play a flop for half or all your stack. It's redonkulous. I hate that game. But, I was able to give Sly most of my chips, so that was a plus.

Full Tilt Poker Game #1122998871: AIPS EVENT #7 (6593235), Table 2 - 150/300 - Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo - 22:47:56 ET - 2006/10/19

SlySelea ties for the low main pot (1,118) with 8,7,3,2,A
khanwoman ties for the low main pot (1,118) with 8,7,3,2,A

Then two hands later I just put my chips in with an awful hand cause I didn't have the will to play anymore. And some jackass starts saying how awful my hand was. Ya know people, sometimes people have reasons for playing awful hands and you should really just STFU and PLAY YOUR OWN CARDS. There's nothing worse than a nosy poker player. Specially ones named WileCoyote. Ya thats right I named names, he`s the luckbox that never played Stud8 and ended up in second. Kinda like the 9Gaiter guy last night that couldn't lose a hand in o8, he pry won the whole thing. But I'm not bitter. These AIPS events are turning into AIOF events... it's not playing poker, just throw your chips in and get lucky.

It does make me realize how great our forum events are. Best playin by far.

cold n wet...
Autumn is my favorite time of year, especially here in Ohio. I can remember traveling to see family in California when I was a kid and when we would come back, Ohio looked grey, gloomy, depressing. It is just a completely different kind of place. But in the autumn, there is color, its not humid, when it's sunny everything glows because of the changing colors on the trees, so it's my favorite season.

But then there are days like today, when its rainy, cold and gloomy. Days that ruin my favorite season. So I decided to start dreaming about my Caribbean vacation. *wavy dream sequence*

There is a place where you can find out about every island on our globe, find out the things to do, what to eat, how to get there and where to stay. They even have a forum where you can ask questions, and reviews of cruise lines.

I've never been on a cruise personally. Altho, I've heard they are good for the gambler which could be fun too. They even have POKER cruises now a days. Heck, even the World Poker Tour does an event on a cruise, which the players say they like because even if they bust out they can still have some fun.

I also heard that those new automatic tables are the wave of the future on cruise ships, since no dealers or cards are needed. Sounds like a good idea for where it is. I saw those tables at the WSOP but never had a chance to sit down and play. They did look like fun though! Online poker meets live gaming... I wonder if it is the wave of the future.

Anyhow, what would be your favorite Island to visit? I've always wanted to go to a beach where the water is actually blue and you can see to the bottom. Closest I've been to a nice beach is in the south of France, Cannes and Niece, and their beaches are about like ours, cept Niece is rocky and Cannes has naked people.

my professional opinion...
Yes, I am a professional. I know you would have never guessed, but I do know a little bit about certain things. I got into insurance about 5 years ago now, I had to take a class and get licensed and everything!! I guess the upside of it, is that I understand something that a lot of people have trouble understanding... Health Insurance. I know, any more it is a bad word.

I could go political in this post, but I shall save that for another day.

Anyhow, being a self employed person, I know the trials of finding Heath Insurance. We usually depend on Joe finding a job with good benefits, but even before he was laid off, his insurance THRU WORK was costing us around $700 a month, and that was just our portion. I know, it's criminal, but alas, I promised I'd save that for another post.

So, back to the point... anything I find relating to finding a better deal on insurance costs is something I like to check out. And today I checked out a site called Vimo. It is a health care comparison shopping site, and I have to say, I checked it out, filled in our families info and the prices aren't bad. They have pretty high deductibles, but that is normal for a non-employer sponsored plan.

But WAIT there's more!! (ha, I made myself laugh there) You can also search for HSA accounts, costs on specific procedures in your area, doctors and dentists.

And, even more impressive... this was all thought up by MEN! I guess you aren't all bad.

thursday schmursday...
Joe has another job interview today, down in Cincy at the Children's Hospital there. They actually have two postitions avaliable and he is interviewing for both, although I think he's pretty overqualified for one of them. I'm excited for him, but it also brought up our first "we only have one car" conflict.

I can't remember a time that we have only had one car between the two of us. The girls have an early dismissal from school today, and PT conferences at 2pm. He will be back in time for the conferences, but not for the early dismissal. So, we phoned in Granny and Papa support, but that's not gonna work out today either. Half day of school... eeh, we will just keep em home! Problem solved.

I hate PT conferences. No, really I do. Because you drag your kids out on a day when you could be doing something much more fun, you sit down and the teacher says "Oh, ya, Maya's doing great, here is her report card". Oh, thanks... cya. What a waste of time, for us and the teachers.

you don't play what?!?
If you're one of my non poker playing readers and wonder on a daily basis "What the heck is she talking about?", there are many online resouces for learning the game including basic poker rules.

If you are like me (cheap) and don't want to play for money, just about every site offers "play chip" games and tournaments. It is a great way to learn the game and see if it brings you joy before unloading all your hard earned cash into it.

I play on Full Tilt Poker mostly. But I've been known to do a little pokerslutting around at other sites. Especially for freerolls. Freerolls are poker tournaments where it costs nothing to buy in, but you can still win money! (and not the play kind) The link above takes you to bet365 poker, which is a site I have played freerolls on as well, and it's not a bad site to check out if you're interested.

They also have links that outline the more common variants of the game a strategy guides and glossaries.

So there, I offer you my daily dose of encouraging you to slide into moral decay. w00t

excuuuuse me???
So, I'm sitting on the couch last night playing a STUD tournament, minding my own business, CNN is on the TV and Larry King comes on. I hear in the intro something about John Mark Karr, so I was thinking they were going to have someone on the show talking about the effects of child abuse, or maybe about how the laws in this country need to be stiffened up for child sex offenders, or maybe about what a piece of slime this John Mark Karr is.

So, I go about my business playing my poker when all of a sudden I look up and the show isn't about advocating for victims of child molestors, IT'S JOHN FUCKING MARK KARR AS A GUEST ON HIS SHOW!! Whaaaat? Excuuuuuse me? When did people in this country start to find it appropriate to let SCHOOL TEACHERS accused of CHILD PORNOGRAPHY have their 15 minutes of fame??

Ya, I know the charges were dropped, in California (because the COPS LOST THE COMPUTER W THE PORN ON IT!!). Let's not forget this sicko has child porn and sex crime charges in about 4 other states AND he thought it would get him just enough attention to make it sound like he DID kill Jon Bennet on TV AND lets not forget why he was a suspect in the first place.. mkay??

So, all of this and I'm trying to play poker!! The NERVE! I had to stop playing and send this pathetic excuse of a reporter an email:

"I am appalled that you INVITED this excuse of a man onto your show. You just washed any speck of journalistic integrity you may have had, right down the drain.

The child endangerment and child sex crimes laws in this country are enough of a joke, why don't you do a show about that?? In fact, I'll go so far as to say, you and your "team" deciding to invite this excuse of a man on your show is encouraging child molestors everywhere.

Way to go Larry King and CNN. I hope you're proud of yourselves."

I know it's not that good, but it was all I could come up with, without explatives, in my fit of anger. Funny thing is, when the show was on last night and I went to CNN.com this story was on the front page of both the main page AND the Larry King section... look what's there now. You can't even find his most recent story on his header page, you have to click the transcripts to see it. I have a feeling I wasn't the only pissed off person.

Really tho, have some respect for the victims of these sickos, would ya?? AAAAAHHH!!! Now I'm mad all over again.

my cell is on fiah!
So I read about this new thing called cellfire. It is a free thing you can download by going to www.cellfire.com or sending a txt to 22888. It downloads straight to your phone, and ya wanna know what it is?! IT'S COUPONS ON YOUR CELL PHONE! In fact, if you click that link or txt to cellfire they will give you a coupon to Bath and Body Works for a free bottle of Signature Body Lotion (I like the cucumber kind just fyi) when you buy anything else in the store. That lotion is like $10 by they way, so that's a pretty cool deal.

What are you doing?!?! I said Free Body Lotion for Bath and Bodyworks people!!

Ok, ok so I'm gonna txt right now and see what I get. LOL this is what I got... and I use VERIZON!! (it was really fast tho, I'll give em that)

So, I guess I'll have to do what they say and check back later, it is a pretty cool idea. Let me know if you try it and if it works!!!

samson blinded...
New book out about the Middle East conflict. This one has been banned by Amazon and Google! Google?!? It is called Samson Blinded.

Since I've never been to the Middle East and I live in America where our media rarely gives us a truthful picture of what is going on over there, I find it refreshing to read or hear about these insider stories.

The book was written by Obadiah Shoher, which is a pen name for an Israeli politician who dealt with antiterroism issues most of his career, which should make this an interesting read.

thursday news...
Joe has an interview today with a big IT headhunter here in the area, Robert Half Technology. I'm excited about it, simply because when he was looking for a job before, Robert Half wouldn't accept him because he had no IT field experience. That was really frustrating last time he was looking, even though he had a Network Engineering degree and had been working with computers for 15 years, people said he had no work experience. But this time he's in! Now, if I can just teach Joe social skills in 5 minutes before he leaves.... I've only been working on it for 7 years.

I had my .25 minutes of fame on a poker podcast yesterday. It's called Ante Up! and you can download the podcast from that link, it's over on the right hand side. My friend Gadzooks gets mentioned too (Sheila pictured right with her banana trophy) because she won an AIPS event and called in about some poker issues, they even play her call on the air! AIPS is a player of the year event they are holding on Full Tilt Poker. Each week, sometimes twice a week, they hold a $5 tournament. Tonight is Stud Hi/Lo if anyone is interested, the password is anteup. They explain more about the series on the Ante Up! link above.

Anna is still home today. She can't go to the potty by herself yet, so I have to keep her home again. She seems to be feeling ALOT better today tho, so we are gonna work on the independent potty thing today. I definitely want her back in school next week. She is really funny when we give her her pain medicine... nothin like a high 3 year old.

Tonight the family and I are going out to dinner with am aka Arthur. He will be in town for business and then he is heading over to Indypalooza with the rest of the poker degenerates. It looks like I'm gonna show him the grandeur of Downtown Dayton and pry take him down to the Dublin Pub. Altho, the pub gets busy during the week so we may hit the Spaghetti Warehouse.

And last but definitely NOT least, here is a little video of my Harper!

Did you know payperpost.com has a blog? I did nut know that! But then, I learn something new every day!

Evidently, they have people that WORK for them that just do the blog! WTF are these people doing to get jobs like this? Is there some major in college that is secret to the rest of us? You know the "Degree that will get you some job that PWNs all others where you get paid a lot of money and do very little work". And, I thought the advertising on blogs deal was good.. geesh.

much ado about nothing...
Sorry Cincy, had to steal your title! Payperpost.com is getting more free advertising for paying people to do blog advertising.

It seems that many profession bloggers, ie: journalists, have "ethical" issues with ppp. They feel that paying people to blog without disclosing that they are being paid is unethical. When in fact, it is the bloggers choice whether or not to disclose that fact. Not to mention, we aren't blogging for a living, we aren't journalists, we aren't professional bloggers. Get over yourselves dudes. You don't run the blog world.

If a company wants joe blow to blog about their website or product, and joe blow wants to write a post about that product then leave em be!

Here is the latest debate, you can listen for yourselves. I'm interested to know what you think.

As far as my disclosure, I usually tag the end of the post with "ppp" as you will see on this post. Although, when I do a ppp, I pick the opportunity, I don't pick random crappe el crappe, I pick something I'm actually interested in, know about or think you would be interested in. Or at least pick something I can make fun of in some way ...

pink ribbon...

You may have seen a few pink ribbons floating around this month on your female co-workers or friends lapels. If you didn't know already, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. The pink ribbon symobolizes awareness of the struggle many women go thru on a daily basis, support of the surviovors, and attention to prevention.

I found a fellow blogger who has chosen to share her entire journey with breast cancer, from the day of diagnosis thru her remission. Her name is Sylvie she is a breast cancer survivor and her mission in life is to bring more awareness about breast cancer to the masses. Sylvie is a 36 year old Canadian woman, mother of three and a business owner and all of you can learn something from her story. Although, I think Sylvie would want us to take what we learn and ACT!

told ya so...
I told ya things can always get worse, and well, they did.

Last night we were doing our usual "girls are in the bath" routine... sitting on the deck enjoying some quiet time, surfing the web, etc etc when I heard Anna start screaming/crying. This is not unusual. So, I went in to break up the cat fight and saw Anna was very upset saying her shoulder hurt. Maya told me she was jumping off the edge of the tub, back into the tub and slipped. Go super Anna!

She had a red mark on her shoulder so I knew it hurt, and I got her out of the tub and tried some range of motion exercises. She screeched in pain and I got worried. Joe came in and observed. It did seem like she was over doing it a bit, so he went and got a sucker for her, held it up high and had her reach for it with the arm she hurt, she got the sucker no problem, no crying.

So, after that we figured she was just tired and over doing the horror she had experienced. I had to sit with her for an hour while she cried herself to sleep with ice packs on the shoulder. I figured she would forget about it by morning.

But no such luck, she woke up this morning screaming again, throwing a fit actually saying how much pain she was in. So, clearly I couldn't send her to school and I couldn't get upset with her till I knew she was OK. Off to Urgent Care we went.

They took Xrays and sure enough, she has a fractured clavical.

All is well though and she will survive, I guess it is one of those things that heals on its own in a sling. Besides, she got some good drugs and she is having a great time eating Doritos and demanding ice cream... then giggling after.

Anna: (laughing) I thought you were Daddy!!

By the way, don't feel too bad for her. I told her I was taking a picture of her boo boo and she put on a special "Feel sorry for me" face. That's my girl!

ho my gawd...
I read this today, and well... read it, you'll see.

"Triplejack Poker takes online poker to a new level. Not only is it Free to play, but Triplejack has great new interactive features not found anywhere else. Where else can you throw a pie at a player for beating you in a hand? Or an egg, or a bomb! Triplejack's interactive features make playing poker even more fun. Best of all Triplejack gives away all kinds of great prizes, even cash, and you can't lose. Triplejack is not a gambling site so there is no way to lose money. Just play poker, win prizes and have fun!"

And you guys think payperpost is useless... tsk tsk.

I don't know about you, but I'm off to blow up some donkeys.

ramblings in the distance...
Last night we were doing our usual evening routine. I was rushing through trying to get things done before the Razz turney last night, dishes, dinner, school clothes ready for the next day and the like. Joe usually has CNN on in the background if the kids haven't ganked the TV for cartoon purposes. As I started the dishwasher I heard "It has been 5 years since the start of Iraqi Freedom...." and Joe and I both said at the same time "FIVE YEARS??".

I'm not sure why it was so shocking. It made me feel as tho, even I, had become immune to it.

But amongst all of this, I guess the time frame can be lost... and these are just the impeachable offenses of the Bush administration:

1. "A Crime Against Peace." Initiating a war of aggression against a nation that posed no immediate threat to the U.S.--a war that has needlessly killed 2550 Americans and maimed and damaged over 20,000 more, while killing over 100,000 innocent Iraqi men, women and children, is the number one war crime according to the Nuremberg Charter, a document which was largely drawn up by American lawyers after World War II.

2. Lying and organizing a conspiracy to trick the American people and the U.S. Congress into approving an unnecessary and illegal war. This is defined as "A Conspiracy to Commit a Crime Against Peace" in the Nuremberg Charter, to which the U.S. is a signatory.

3. Approving and encouraging, in violation of U.S. and international law, the use of torture, kidnapping and rendering of prisoners of war captured in Iraq and Afghanistan and in the course of the so-called War on Terror. Note that the Hamdan decision actually declares Bush to have violated the Third Geneva Convention on Treatment of Prisoners of War, which means the justices are in effect calling the president a war criminal. Under U.S. and international law, if prisoners have died because of such a violation--and many have died in illegal US captivity because of torture authorized by this president--the penalty is death (a point made to the president in a warning memo written by his then White House counsel Alberto Gonzales, the text of which is published in full in the appendix of our book).

4. Illegally stripping the right of citizenship and the protections of the Constitution from American citizens, denying them the fundamental right to have their cases heard in a court, to hear the charges against them, to be judged in a public court by a jury of their peers, and to have access to a lawyer.

5. Authorizing the spying on American citizens and their communications by the National Security Agency and other U.S. police and intelligence agencies, in violation of the First and Fourth Amendments and the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA).

6. Obstructing investigation into and covering up knowledge of the deliberate exposing of the identity of a U.S. CIA undercover operative, and possibly conspiring in that initial outing itself.

7. Obstructing the investigation into the 9-11 attacks and lying to investigators from the Congress and the bi-partisan 9-11 Commission--actions that come perilously close to treason. (Former Florida Senator Bob Graham, who headed the Senate Intelligence Committee until his retirement at the end of 2002, has called this the president's most impeachable crime.)

8. Violating the due process and other constitutional rights of thousands of citizens and legal residents by rounding them up and disappearing or deporting them without hearings.

9. Abuse of power, undermining of the Constitution and violating the presidential oath of office by deliberately refusing to administer over 750 acts duly passed into law by the Congress--actions with if left unchallenged would make the Congress a vestigial body, and the president a dictator.

10. Criminal negligence in failing to provide American troops with adequate armor before sending them into a war of choice, criminal negligence in going to war against a weak, third-world nation without any planning for post war occupation and reconstruction, criminal negligence in failing to respond to a known and growing crisis in the storm-blasted city of New Orleans, and criminal negligence in failing to act, and in fact in actively obstructing efforts by other countries and American state governments, to deal with the looming crisis of global warming.

David Lindorff

But if you ask them... they haven't read that report yet.

useless info is a good thing...
You say you like trivia eh? Well here is site for you!

It is filled with tons of useless information for you need to know people. Here are a couple of my favorites...
  • Charlotte de Berry’s career as a pirate began in the 1600’s when she dressed up as a man to follow her husband into the Royal Navy. Charlotte’s ruse was discovered when the ship they were on was attacked and it was discovered that she was really a woman. She was made to take a ship back to England. Along the way, the Captain of the ship bound for home assaulted Charlotte and in revenge, she lead the crew in a mutiny and lopped off the Captain’s head, whereupon she usurped his position and decided instead of going home, it would be more fun to be a pirate and raid ships along the African Coast.
  • Samuel Bratt, whose wife hated his smoking, left her in 1960, the sum of 330,000 pounds providing she smoked five cigars a day.
  • Most toilets flush in E flat
  • 85% of all people killed by lightning are male

  • It is believed that poker began as a card gave played with a deck of only 20 cards. That game, described in 1829 by the English actor Joseph Crowell, consisted of four players betting on whose hand was most valuable.

knock on wood...
I have been quiet about poker this week because I didn't want to jinx myself. Monday, when I found out about Joe's bad news I withdrew my poker bankroll. It only added up to about $100, and I left a few odd dollars in my account. There was a forum tournament later that night and an insistent forumer insisted I play and sent me the money to play in it (even tho I resisted). I don't like to borrow poker money for lots of reasons, which would pry be for another post.

Anyhoo, I won that tournament + a $10 bounty giving me an instant $50 bankroll! er well $44.50 cause I sent the original buy in back to the generous effer. Since then I have monied in all but one tournament I've played this week! Which took me up to $113!

I think that is just amazing. After months of losing, I withdraw all my money and win. I just don't get it. So, I went back over everything to see what I was doing different.

  1. I played two HORSE mtt's. I had never made it a habit to play in these mtts. I play sngs all the time but not mtts. I made it deep in both, to the final table in one, and even tho they weren't big cashes they did help out.
  2. I didn't play ANY ring. Ring games are of the devil. Oh wait I did play ring ONCE and I lost TEN DOLLARS playing Razz.. thx to zooks. Maybe she is the devil.
  3. I didn't play any NLHE sngs.
  4. I had a poker epiphany, which will be explained below.
Anyone who plays low stakes poker online will understand the following scenario:
  • You buy into a tournament, get seated, and start to notice that every hand that is shown down is some piece of garbage like K4 sooted, where they won with top pair, even though there was a flush and a straight on the board. AND to top it off, they got called down by middle pair! So, you try to adjust playing your hands like QT, QJ, KT, TJ etc etc. But when you play these hands you're still getting beat! Their hands like K4 are hitting their 3 outers, flushes or 4 card straights.
I found myself in this scenario playing a $4 185 person sng on PokerStars. As usual, I was frustrated and down to about 400 chips when I thought to myself, "Man those people are idiots! If I could just hit a big hand in a pot with (identified specific people that would pay me off) I'd be golden". So, I did just that.
  • I identified the people I wanted to play pots with, the 4 people at the table that would pay me off with top pair or middle pair.
  • I specifically targeted playing one gappers and two gappers against these opponets.
  • I wanted to stay away from hands like TJ or QJ or KT - to get this to pay off I had to hit a non suspecting hand where THEY held the K or Q and I had the nuts.
So, here is an example:

PokerStars Game #6532003314: Tournament #33170378, $4.00+$0.40 Hold'em No Limit - Level III (25/50) - 2006/10/05 - 19:48:30 (ET)

Seat 6: MRvicious666 (3600 in chips)
Seat 7: RColburn (1620 in chips)
Seat 8: gibs852 (1725 in chips)

RColburn: bets 50<-- ahh yes, you bet that A4
Khanwoman: raises 200 to 250 <-- he will call this
ZDVB: calls 250 <-- ooh he called too! I hope he doesnt have a flush draw
the_mats: folds
MRvicious666: folds
RColburn: calls 200<--- good boy
*** TURN *** [6c 8d 4d] [2s]
RColburn: checks
Khanwoman: bets 2140 and is all-in
ZDVB: folds
RColburn: calls 1320 and is all-in
*** RIVER *** [6c 8d 4d 2s] [Kc]
*** SHOW DOWN ***
RColburn: shows [4c As] (one pair, Fours)
khanwoman: shows [5h 7h] (a straight, Four to Eight)

Anyhow, I didn't win this tournament, I ended up losing a race with my 99 and busting out. I`m sure this small pot poker against the donkeys is nothing new, but it finally clicked with me and helped me deal with my table symantics at the time.

Give it a try!

i'm so lazy...

I have a ton of things to sell on ebay just piling up. I found this really cool eBay listing tool on my payperpost site, and it's free so I'm gonna give it a shot.

It's a program that allows you to streamline selling items on ebay, and it looks pretty cool. For sellers I think it is better than the one I posted about last time.

Here are some of it's features:

  • A completely new AJAX enabled keyword search to help you find the right category.
  • Unlimited free image hosting
  • A partnership with Photobucket
  • Templates that actually make your listing look good
