so anyhoo...
I started back to school yesterday, my schedule is as follows:

Not too bad, the hardest part will be making an awesome flash final from last quarter. I'm also sitting in on my professors class from 4-4:45 on Tues/Thurs until I'm done. I would also like to find something to replace that online English class, as I think it will suck balls. NTTAWWT. The beginning self defense class on Saturdays is actually Judo/Jiujitsu. I am pretty excited about taking it, but considering the news that is coming next in this blog post, I may have to drop that class.

I GOT A JOB!!!

Now, calm down. It isn't a spectacular job, or a job even remotely close to what I want to do. But, the pay is good, and the hours are MWF, and allow me to still take my kids to school in the morning. So, I took it. I will be your friendly neighborhood dental office receptionist. Right in the middle of the ghetto. At least I'll have no shortage of hook up offers.

The only catch to the job is that my BFF since the 6th grade not only will be working with me, but she will be my boss! (see pics from previous post, that is whom I speak of) I think it will be a good time. Heather and I respect each other enough to know the boundaries... I THINK.

Thursday night I'm off on an over night field trip with Maya to the Indianapolis Zoo. We are sleeping over night in the dolphin habitat, and I'm not gonna lie, mama is excited. There isn't much better than re-living your childhood thru your children! (ya I know, stfu)

I've been wanting to add on to this photo all month and keep forgetting. I've only lost 10-15lbs since my last pic, but I wanted to do one last update until July 1st. Holler.

This picture is titled, "Where, O Where, Have My Boobles Gone".

dude...
I finished my quarter at school. Well, kinda.

I actually got an extension on my Flash final from my fantabulous professor (if there is a god, I hope she blesses that woman). I did finish my Director final, and have it uploaded to my web server if you would like to check it out.

There is an .osx file for the Mac goobers, and an .exe file for the PC goobers. Just FYI, this project was done on a Mac, and I noticed that the .exe file isn't quite right. A few of the fonts (altho embedded into the .exe file) are completely fuckered. So, don't be a hater and look at the fuckered fonts, just check out the interactivity. One last thing, both of the files have a little quirk on the FTP ad, and Ima laugh when you all click on it :)

Also, there is an "easter egg" hidden in the program and when/if you find it, it features Huckles von Chuckles.

My Director final consisted of creating a digital, interactive magazine DVD. I, of course, chose a poker magazine and here are some pics of my packaging.

So, I worked on that for a week straight, then went out Friday night to a comedy club here called The Funnybone. It was a good show with Tim Wilson.

Anyhoodles, this week is loaded with job hunting and catch up work, fun fun fun for everyone. I finally got sick of looking at my hideous "T's Spot" graphic and took it down (if you hadn't noticed). Hopefully I'll get something more design savvy up this week.

holy mcfucklesons!!!
That is such a great word, IS. IT. NOT?! I hardly think any of you are prepared to argue that point with me at all.

So, I shall proceed.

I was at my sister's Friday night and my BFF, Heather, stopped by for dinner. She and I were discussing some of my "dates" as of late, and my brother-in-law seemed a bit shocked, so I thought I'd get it out there as not to shock anymore people.

I'm still "married", and I'm "seeing" other people. I use the terms in quotage lightly, just sayin'.

There, ya have it.

Next on the agenda, my fat ass.

February was a slow month for me, but I didn't gain any weight, so I'm glad about that. No steps backward = I'm still going forward. So, this month I am starting my journey to shedding my final poundages. By July 1st (the day I started in 2007) I want to be ~35lbs lighter than I am now, which would put me at a total weight loss of ~100lbs.

HOLY MCFUCKLESONS. Put your hatorade away.

Notice I am giving myself plenty of time to accomplish this, because I realize these last pounds (especially that last 10) are most likely gonna be a big ass bitch. Holler. And don't worry Sheila, ass soon as my jeans I have now don't fit, I'll be placing my custom couture order :)

Next on the agenda, finding someone to pay for my boob job. Wanna make another bet Sheila??? :)

Oh and PS - School is putting a big butt kickin' on me this quarter. I'm all bruised up, but if I ever have anything good to tell, you will be the first to know.

procrastination...
Since that is all I use my blog for anymore, now is a good time for it!! The 101 things I should be doing right now can wait.

My "mini van mom" days are over. The van has been sold, and I am now driving a ULEV. I miss my van horribly, but I do feel about 5 years younger when I drive this car, and that's a PLUS. I just need to get some window tintage (so I LOOK 5 years younger too) and I'll be kickin' it. Holler. My chicks seem to dig the new wheels (a Honda Civic, btw) but we will see how they feel when there are no movies to watch on the next road trip.

I am about to move into my mom and dad's basement, which would make me feel about 10 years younger, except for the fact that my two kids are going with me. So instead, it will pry age me 10 years. It is just temporary till Maya finishes her school year out, but still, gl me!!

I kicked zooks ass in this. I don't wanna rub it in too much, so that's all I have to say about that :P

My chicks and I are starting Jiu Jitsu lessons today. I just wanna grapple with hot dudes, sfobv. Submit hot dude FTW.

Still no job, I even interviewed with a florist. I must seem like I'm not the flowery type, who knew.

Storyboards suck ass.

LET'S DO SHOTS!
I did one of nyquil last night, but this morning Ima go all GGW on you and do a dayquil!

wooohoooooo!

Anyhow, the amounts of phlegm contained in my body at the moment are not the point of this post. I shall proceed...

If you've been around my spot for awhile you are familiar with my struggles with Math. You would also know that after a year in school I finally broke down and took my Math class this quarter.

Well, in all honesty, it wasn't pretty at first. My first week of school I came home and did very poorly on all my homework, did bad on the daily quizzes in class, and the outlook was bleak since my first test was the SECOND week of class.

/commercial break/
so I am sitting in bed typing this and my anna is asleep next to me, snoring a bit. She just woke up, did a big stretch and started to whisper to me:

"Mommy, I just had a really good dream."

"OOOOOH tell me!"

"I was at school, and we had a big pool in the school, so we were all swimming and laughing, and when we got out, there was A BIG PIRATE SHIP... LIKE A REAL ONE... RIGHT INSIDE OUR SCHOOL!"

"Did you get to ride on it?"

"No, but it was so awesome mommy, it even moved like a real pirate ship, and the pool was so big and deep, we pushed it into the pool and the pirates let us keep it!"

/end commercial break/

My math prof offers extra credit work on all tests. She gives us a review sheet to complete, and then we have to go into a math lab and take a practice test. In order for the extra credit points to count, we have to score 85% or higher on the practice test. This was a good deal for me!

I had been working really hard on my Math with a LOT of help from a friend. And when I say a lot, I mean HUGE help HUUUGGGEEE.

For instance, I come home from math class, get ALL of my homework problems wrong, I shoot an email (or a mathmail as it has come to be known), that makes no sense cause I'm retarded, over to this friend, he shoots one back and I completely understand. It's truly amazing. He has a dizzying intellect.

So, when I went in to take my practice test, I was feeling goooooooooood! I zipped right thru the test, knew how to work out every problem, cilcked submit and went over to the printer to get my score when I see...

YOUR SCORE IS 70%

I actually felt a little tear well up. How do I get a 70% after I've worked so hard?!? So, you know what I did? I didn't sulk, I TOOK THAT BITCH AGAIN!

AND I GOT A 70% AGAIN!! (did you "lol" when u read this? I did)

I couldn't keep taking the practice exam because it was time to head over for the real test. I wasn't a happy camper and I could feel the pissiness start to well up inside me. Do you ever get like that? It's like a pot boiling, and you can feel it start to rise from your gut and move it's way up to your head and if someone were to speak to you at that very moment, they would for surely die.

So what happened? Are you on the edge of your seat dying to know? Did she fail? Did she cry? Is she going to get naked and post pictures?

I think I will let my most excellent math tutor answer this one in limerick, for your enjoyment.

The first test, she was going to fail it
She decided that she would mathmail it

J worked his magic
To avoid scores so tragic

Which in the end, caused her to nail it

my first flash...
And, not the streaking kind...

I didn't design this or anything, it was just a homework assignment. I couldn't get the logo quite right (well I guess I could've, but I didn't), the L part is a lil skewed, and the shadow of the orb is a too dense, which causes my highlight to be too white.

Anyhow, a certain someone was asking me about flash (no not lynx) so I thought I'd throw this up there. So far, I'm liking it much better than Dreamweaver. We will see how I feel when I start tweening and linking etc.

don't blame me, i just live here...
I've been meaning to post for well over a week, and well, here we go...

School:

I can't believe the end of the quarter is already rearing its ugly head.

Art is kickin' my arse again. Drawing more than one thing in the same composition is harder than drawing just one, who knew. I was actually so frustrated yesterday, I left class an hour early to prevent my head from exploding.

Printing class is da bomb. I designed a pokerslut tshirt to make for my screen printing project. I should be able to start my strike offs next week. w00t. It'll look a little something like this:

The front
The back - Ive actually changed this a bit since the screenshot for obv reasons. positioning/redability etc.I was going for the early 90's rock tour look, obv. There's a sleeve shot too, but well, you'll have to wait for the real thing to see that.

Dreamweaver - oh dreamweaver - feed me to the wolves would ya? My hands on midterm made my blood begin to boil, but I got an A on the written part. I need to get started on my final project, which is designing an entire website (OMG) I should get hrbek to do it for me. I decided to make an online portfolio, since that would be killing two birds with one piece of stonage.

Yoga is fabulous, I forgot how much I enjoy doing yoga and how much it helps my back. Although, last week my instructor started giving instructions on a pose and when he got to "once you feel the pull in your leg, start to work your heel to the back of your head...." he received an evil eye from the T. Just sayin.

And last but not least...

Design Survey is a BS class they make us take. I was dreading it. It is one of those 2.5 hour BS classes that make you want to pull your hair out, lots of busy work etc. But my instructor RAWKS. We haven't had a class last over an hour yet, AND he has taken HALF the work out of the class, including a paper and tests. And, AND none of our work is actually due till the end of the quarter. GG Jack. Only thing is, he jabbers on and on and on and on quite often. I didn't know dudes had so much to say. Right now he is having us design a logo for a made up automotive company. My company is called KADUB. sfobv.

The Skinny

Well so far I've lost about 34lbs and I'm happy about it. The last time I weighed, the scale actually said i had put 3 lbs back on, but I'm not buying it. It was late in the day and I've been training for a 5 mile run on Thanksgiving. The new jeans I bought that are two sizes smaller than before are getting a bit loose already too, so I've lost interest in the number. I feel great, which is the best part and I've been sticking with it.

Exercise had been getting a bit boring after the whole prop bet thing to make it entertaining, so I decided to really challenge myself to do the Turkey Trot. I don't know if I will be able to jog 5mi by then, but it's fun trying!

Hey SCOTT are you still gonna do this with me or what playa?!

So anyhoo, last night I was talking to someone about this pic I saw of myself on my brother's picasa page that was the catalyst for the decision to lose weight. It made me wanna puke. the convo went a lil something like this:

me: omg u should see the pics i saw of myself that made me realize i had to lose weight. not that i would ever show them to you, but still
person: show me
me: no fraking way
person: come on
me: gfy
person: you could be like the person in the commercial that holds up the big pants
me: still not gonna

Well, here's the pic, right next to a pic of me in the same shorts that Anna was so kind to take of me this morning.

Might wanna turn your sound down - the first one MOOOOOOO's

Life

Big changes going down in T-Ville. They aren't quite bloggable as of yet, but I'll get to it when I can. Good changes tho.

Zooks was in town this past weekend. It was pretty sweet having her here, cause well, I like zooks.

Pictures were taken, obv, if interested.

Lots of kid stuff, and poker on Saturday night at Ritze's (smboatdrinks) house, which was a blast. My bro even came with us, and had Zooks cracking up in the car the whole way home, sfobv. To top it off, I'm going to HER house THIS weekend! When it rains it pours... w0000t.

All is well in kidville too. Maya had PT conferences last week and straight As on her report card (standard) and Miss Anna made this kick ass dinosaur out of construction paper at daycare yesterday. Altho, (spell check says altho should be alt ho - lolorz) today she felt the need to make another construction paper creation, and made a Mermaid with a gun. NOICE.

So that's all the tidbits for now, carry on.

i'm a 'lil teapot...

It's no secret that I can't draw.

However, I never had an example to show you exactly how bad I actually am. So, consider yourselves cursed lucky. This is my first rendering of a teapot. I drew it either on the first or second day of class. RAW talent!

In my charcoal class, we started with the line drawing you saw above, but soon moved on to value drawings. Instead of identifying the shape with lines, you identify it with darks and lights. Which brings me to teapot #2, or "here is my handle, here is my spout" as I like to call it.
After this, I didn't think things could get much better. I mean that looks like the Mona Lisa to me.

This week we started doing the value drawings in reverse. We take our charcoal and cover the entire page in a medium value and then go in with an eraser and start to identify the highlights, then back in with charcoal to identify the darks. Which brings me to teapot #3, or "when I get all steamed up I will shout!".

I know, and if you think that's good, look at this!!

HOLLA!!

i think today is friday...
OK, ya I checked my calendar... it is definitely Friday. Whew, I was a little worried there for a second.

Last week, after multiple requests, my system admin finally went to install my Adobe CS3 suite on the 'ol laptop. Let's just say the 'ol laptop couldn't handle it, and I was forced with a decision:

I could spend $400 upgrading my crappy laptop that I've already wasted too much money on

or

I could get a new laptop

I went with the later, even tho I'm a cheap ass and I still keep telling myself "I'm taking it back" - I don't think thats gonna happen. However, installing XP instead of VISTACRAP is a high possibility. I haven't even been using the system for 24 hours and it has already crashed on me, but at least the error windows are pretty and they glow.

However, all my problems pale in comparison to THIS - what asswipe designer decided this would be a good idea??
Ya, that's the SHIFT key. Sigh.

Anyhoo, enough about me, let's talk about PIRATES!! I can't take credit for this one, it was shown to me by some dude, from Jersey that doesn't have 'a guy'.

Then I saw this today on my google reader... he he he

And for the piece de resistance-

Do you remember the Davey Crockett tail?? Hmm do ya? I don't see how you could forget really. But, just in case you did - you won't this time.

wow, i'm old...
Really, I don't think I'm old... but lately I've had a few things remind me that it is... just a matter of time.

Sign #1 - I'm driving in the car the other day with my brother and we have the radio on for the kids. I'd rather hear them sing lyrics that are completely inappropriate for their age, than scream at each other, obv. A song comes on that I know the words to, it's old skewl, back from my high school days -- when it dawns on me...

Dave (my bro), this isn't the original song is it?
OMG - a song I listened to in high school got covered.

Sign #2 - Today is my first day of class, and at 8:30am I have ART. I walk into class and grab my usual seat next to the hottest male (I'm um genius) in the classroom. We have to get up and grab a few different things during class, a big sheet of sketch paper, charcoal etc. When I realize there is a chick in my class with a 2 foot davey crocket tail pinned to her ass. I kid you not, a 2 foot davey crocket tail pinned to her ass, and I have a feeling I was one of about 4 people in the class that had never seen such a thing before.

Sign #3 - We are standing in line at the concession stand at the movie theater this weekend, of course what was the topic?? 2 sodas and a popcorn cost what?? FIFTEEN DOLLARS?? And you know how I knew Joe is older than me?? Because he wouldn't shut up about it, and I had to ask him to stop as he was embarrassing me.

Good thing I'm not THAT old, yet.

house cleaning...

Today I had an epiphany. I could take out an equity loan for home improvements to pay for Anna's full time child care. sersly. The chick is a fraking tornado destroying everything in our home.

The T is at a breaking point with Ms. Anna. And I have no idea how I'm gonna do this 3 days a week while tackling school and work too. (and that doesn't include the weekends) Maya has always understood my limits, and acts accordingly. Anna on the other hand finds my breaking points to be cause to go find something else to piss mama off.

WARNING: this could be detrimental to your health and safety, kid.

I thought school started today, but today is the 4th and school starts the 5th, and since I changed my schedule around to only have classes on Tues and Thurs - I don't have class till Thursday.

Funny how things work out just as they were supposed to all along and I still get surprised, ain't it?

Those are the two days a week I won't be watching Anna. Thank god for school.

I had a few more things to add, but right now I have to go save my photo album collection from becoming part of Anna's re-creation of the first scene in Ghostbuster's.

i know, i know...
It has been too long --

but I've been a lil busy, mkay?

I finished out my summer quarter at school! Big W0o0T.

I would show you my Digital Video final, but it's so bad I don't want anyone to hurl. My final InDesign proj turned out ok, well for getting the proj requirements on Monday and having it due Wednesday anyhow. Same prof as my Typography class, if you remember that one.

It was an tri-fold layout for the new Helvetica Film

outside

inside

Maya started back to school last Wednesday, she is in the THIRD GRADE NOW! So crazy. She loves her new teacher cause, "She wears high heels every day, and her hair is pretty, and she has a great skin tone". I know, wtf? Girls.

Anna isn't going back to the same pre-school this year. We had so many issues there last year, and it was going to cost more this year, I couldn't bring myself to pay that much money for people to piss me off on a regular basis. So, she will be in the pre-school at my College this year. For now, she will only be going when I'm in class (full time has a waiting list) but since I'm on a Pell Grant it costs practically nothing, and even better, it's a GREAT pre-school. She is pretty excited.

I'm almost to my weight goal (well for the prop bet anyhow, long ways to go for the real goal). As of last week I had 4 lbs to go -- so I'm working double time to get it off. I haven't noticed a huge difference in my clothes etc. but I do feel a lot better, I feel stronger, and I like that. One bad side, I thought as we aged the first thing to go was the mind, that is a myth. It's the boobs.

So now I'm off school for two weeks. I don't have any huge plans, but I do have 4 goals:

  1. Get my resume laid out in InDesign.
  2. Find a part time job.
  3. Work on some side projects for logos etc.
  4. Get a couple projects done around the house (I haven't decided which ones yet)
We will see how it goes, cause I still have Anna with me during the day, and I have an enrollment for work going on too.

Oh, and I got my haircut yesterday. Fun fun.

If ya can't tell I'm pretty unhappy with my Illustrator final. But after working for 4 hours on it, that'll do pig.

EDIT: I couldn't take it! I redid it and i think it looks a bit better

Two down, two to go...
It is the last week of the quarter, and that means crunch time.

I've finished two of the four- well kinda finished. The Photoshop still has to be made into a booklet and mounted on a presentation board, oh and printed out, cut down etc. Hell, thats a whole days work in itself. The Design 3D still has to have the pictures mounted on presentation board and bound.

So, nm, I'm not done.

Photoshop - I'm not sure how this slideshow is going to embed, but you can always see them here

3D Design - same deal

I'll post my Illustrator and Lightwave projects when they are finished

Fat Tuesday...

I'm glad it was Fat Tuesday yesterday. That way I don't look so bad for staying up late drinking and playing poker. Well, I wasn't really playing poker, I was watching someone (no not zerbet) play poker - how cool am I? Cause you know I donked out early when I hit top pair and bet the pot, and was called by 2nd pair 9s who hit a K on the turn for two pair. I HEART I say, HEART!

But I'm still not bitter... see?

So while I was watching someone (no not zerbet) take down 1st in one turney then 2nd in another (gg's, not zerbet) I decided to have a few drinks cause if ya didn't know:

Whiskey = Poker Therapy in a Bottle

Now you know, and knowing is half the battle dude.

And since it was Fat Tuesday yesterday, I don't feel guilty for waking up and not wanting to get out of bed, even though one of the spawns is running a fever with glassy eyes and comatose in the recliner right now. Cause only good mom's stay up too late drinking and (almost) gambling.

But anyhow, the blog neglecting is somewhat purposeful. All I have to talk about is boring ol school work (which I'm NOT totally stressed out with btw, totally NOT!) This quarter is almost over though 3 or 4 more weeks or something like that, and for now I still have both eyes. I even registered for next quarter yesterday! It's gonna be a full plate:

Digital Imaging (aka photoshop)
Digital Illustration (aka illustrator)
Digital Animation (not really sure, flash maybe?)
Design 3D (make carp outta foam core)

I'll be all digitized at the end tho pry.

look what i did!
Ya know, I've never quite understood when my kids run up to me screaming, "MOMMY MOMMY LOOK WHAT I DID!". But today, I feel their joy.

Today I finished my onomato-whata project for my "just poke my eye out" class. I actually did one version of it on Wednesday during class. I had finished all my sketches early cause the prof wanted us to use Adobe Illustrator to do our final project. Of course, this class has no prerequisites, and I had never even seen the program, so I thought it would be a good idea to get ahead and try to get help in class that day.

A kid in my class let me use his iMac and I was happy when I finished it. I had problems getting it to print out at the right size, so I took it to the prof and asked for her guidance. She spent 40 mins showing me how to change the print settings so it would come out right and then added at the end:

Prof: "This isn't going to work by the way"
Me: "Uh, what do you mean?"
Prof: "You can't use an image on your final"
Me: "I asked you that Monday and you said we could use an image"
Prof: "Well, I didn't mean that literally"
long pause as my brain starts to boil over
Me: "Well then you just wasted a lot of my time, literally"

So, we came to the conclusion that I could use a GRAPHIC not an actual IMAGE. mkay. But now I was stuck with no computer with Illustrator on it, so I thought I was going to do it by hand. Until the ol Joester used his almighty connections to get Illustrator on my desktop at home! I knew he was good for something.

Now I had to find a GRAPHIC and not an IMAGE for my project. I googled for hours and found nothing. But, I have friends in high places, and one of them (no not Zerbet) found me an almost puuuuurfect image. I just needed to invert it (change white to black and black to white) in Photoshop.

Or so I thought.

Now, keep in mind, I don't have a clue when it comes to Photoshop or Illustrator. But I do have a Photoshop for Dummies book, which means I must be flat out mentally inept because the book doesn't work much for me either.

When I finally inverted the image graphic it was black all around it too and I needed the back ground to be white! OMGWTF. About an hour in I was going to give up, but I tried one more thing and it worked! Well mostly worked, I still had a bit of a shadow around it, but I was willing to live with that.

I now had to take the image into Illustrator and hook it up with my onomato-whata. I realized at this time how bad the shadow looked. But alas, I'm a donkwad and I don't know how to use the program. So I fiddled a bit and VOILA, I FIXED THAT TOO!

How cool am I?

So here it is... LOOKIE LOOKIE WHAT I DID!!

It's the sound of chips shuffling btw.

Seriously tho, this was a HUGE accomplishment for me. The prof will pry shove it up my bum, but for now, I'm at peace with the universe.

onomota-- whata??
ONOMATOPOEIA

I need some...so get creative!*

What is an onomatopoeia?
Onomatopoeia (occasionally spelled omomatopœia) is a word, or occasionally, a grouping of words, that imitates the sound it is describing, and thus suggests its source object, such as “bang” or “click”, or animal such as “moo”, “oink”, “quack” or “meow”.

ty wikipedia, you are always so helpful!

So, here is the challenge. I need the word and a definition. The words and their definitions can be figments of your imagination. ie: they do NOT have to be actual sounds like "meow". (ya, now you see why I came to you huh). Here is one I came up with:

PWNED: The sound you hear when I take your whole stack cause I flopped set and you rivered two pair.

You get the idea... ready, set, GO!*

another weekend gone...
POKER:

I had a full plate this weekend and wasn't planing on playing any poker but I rushed and got my cleaning lady duties done early Saturday morning so I could play in the AIPS II NLHE tournament at noon. I ended up finishing 2nd, one place short of the mighty AIPS Banana trophy. C'est la vie. I did, however, recieve a cool $94 for my efforts. I'll take it, especially with how I have been running lately, cold cards and handing out my money.

Here is the hand history from the last hand. I could've played it much differently. I had no reason to put all my chips in, I wasn't short. But the person I was playing against likes to chase and after the check/call on the flop and a check from him on the turn I was just wanting him to fold. I really didn't put him on any kind of Ace.

PROJECTS:

I had a positive/negative project to do this weekend for my Design 2D class. We had to pick an image for our rockstar, mine being the great Jon Bon Jovi of course. I ended up with a guitar a) because it was easy b) because it was easy. I am not very talented when it comes to hand drawing anything, so I had to pick something I could trace. This weekend I had to hand ink the images, which was torture. My hand isn't too steady, but it is done.

Next I had to do two typographical grids. The first being an elemental grid, 7x7 square, 1" grid.

When I finished this I had to do a creative grid, not easy when you are practically blind from the previous two projects. I had a hard time coming up with something but ended up going with... you guessed it... EASY!

So that's it. 48 hours and another weekend gone. I have to say the projects are already getting easier, and I think I'm actually learning something despite my stubborness. Go figger.
