Multi Table Tournament Pondering....
Most of my tournament play is limited to the Private tournaments on Fulltiltforum.com. I do well in these tournaments that usually have 30 people max and a $5 buy in. I money in them pretty regularly and win them often as well.

I have always wanted to play in more of the bigger MTTs, but I am very restricted by the time issues involved, big MTTs take big time. So, I have been trying to set aside time for them especially on the weekends when the kids are at grannys and things like that. And Ive found I have a HUGE problem in these things.

I have to face something Im not used to in my smaller turneys, BIG blinds and BIG stacks. Ive started a little pattern in my MTTs, my stack sits at 10x I may even get a little over, and then the blinds go up. Im constantly in push mode. Even tho Im moneying (cause Im a survivor) this "new" issue has me perplexed... and Its something Ill be working on to overcome and figure out how to get thru it.

My most recent MTTs:

FTP $10 NLHE 486 to start I finished 18th - SS almost the entire time finally lost when my 77 pushed into KQo. $34 in winnings and a $5 last longer bet I won from Zerbert.

PS $5NLHE 2341 to start I finished 373rd - I won $9.34 and this was my first ever PS turney. this thing was like playing a freeroll. and I cant believe 373rd place makes money!!

Tier One TORTURE...Continued...
Ok, so we all know Im fed up with this stuff. But there is another reason besides the 2 outers.

THEY ARE TAKING FOREVERRRRRRR

Was there a news flash about these things? Is that why they have changed? Look at this screen shot and check out the blind levels and chip stacks...

I just realized you probably cant see this... blinds are 400/800. Starting with me and going clockwise the chips stacks are as follows: 3200, 4894, 4788, 858, 5964 and 5696. Thats right, no one even has 10x!! So they turn into crap shoots instead of poker. To top it of, one guy was busted right before I took this.

And then of course, we cant play one of these with out going out 5th to a two outer...

If its not bad enough he raised UTG with A3o, he gets rewarded by hitting a 2 outer on the river. Go figure.

Round Two ding ding ding...
252 entered... 9 spots move onto the last of the rounds where the top 20 get WSOP main even seats.

I went out 12th.

My final hand I was short stacked, a little over 3 bb left, if that. I was on the button had KJh so I knew I was pushing... guy to my right raised which was almost my whole stack. He had been doing this alot so I wasnt concerned with him. I got concerned after I went all in for about 300-400 more than his raise THEN the sb RE RAISED. I thought I was in serious trouble and started praying for hearts. The original raiser took his entire time to finally fold. The sb turned up 99, so I actually had a good chance to draw out. But to no avail, a black board with NO paint didnt do the trick.

After three hours of some awesome poker playing, I wanted to cry, its such a shame to let all that beautiful play go to waste, 3 away from the prize. But I didnt cry, cause im tough like that.

Thanks to Rog(TheCat) for cheering me on the entire time. I was short stacked for almost the last hour and he helped me stay focused and I really appreciated it. Im sure you could have found something more entertaining to do!! But it really helped me stay focused on the table and I doubt I would have gotten that far if you werent there.

So overall, Round One 1571 entered, I finished 27th. Round 2 - 252 entered I finished 12th. Not too bad, but it didnt cut it. I will say, the second round was NOT like a freeroll AT ALL. So if any of you make it there, it doesnt play like a freeroll at all.

I shall try again this week if I can find the time.

The Little Big Game...
I was planning on making an entry about Toms tournament last night, until the REAL little big game happened on impulse this evening.

THE PLAYERS:

  • T "Khannie" White - 28 years old, originating from Columbia, Maryland. Khannie has been playing poker for over 6 years now. She proves her skills time and time again playing against some of the best players on Full Tilt Poker. Shes had over 20 Final Table appearances in some of the biggest poker tournaments played by the creme of the crop on Full Tilt.
  • Maya "Papaya" White - 6 years old, originating from Dayton, Ohio, home of greats like Chip Reese, Ron Rose and Mike Sexton. This young gun of poker is no stranger to high stakes/high pressure games. Shes played with the best of them and is coached by some of the best players of our day.
  • Big Dave "Tsoprano811" Whitley - 32 years old, originating from Burbank, California. This guy is a true monster of poker. He is a manager in the gaming industry and started playing poker when the only place to play was in the dark back rooms of seedy downtown bars.
  • Joe "Khandom" White- 39 years old, originating from Minneapolis, Minnesota. This self proclaimed computer geek has made his way up to "the big game" playing what the pros like to call "wild azz douche bag" poker.
OK OK so Im over doing it, but we really had a great time tonight, and Maya busted us all!! I tell ya, what a proud mama I am!!

FIRST VICTIM:

Joe

The blinds were 5/10, I was UTG and looked down at 77. I raised to 35 chips. Dave who was on the button folded, next to act was Joe and he made it 135 to go. Maya called quite quickly, as usual I warned her "Maya thats alot of chips, you need to check your cards again" she quickly replied " But I have REAAAAALLY good cards!!". Ok then, I call the extra 100.

Flop

5s 6s 9c

Joe immediately goes all in. This is a ploy he likes to try to "steal" the pot and I was fully intending on calling until Maya fast as lightning says "Well IM ALL IN too". OMGWTF, I fold my 77 face up.

Joe turns up QdQh
Maya turns up 8c 9s

Turn 8s
River As

PWNED!!!

SECOND VICTIM

Dave... and half of Me

We were 3 handed now and Dave was on the button and first to act. He limps in, Maya calls out of the SB and I check in the BB. I have 62o.

Flop 6s 7d Td

I bet out 50 chips
Dave calls
Maya Calls

Turn 2s

I bet out 100
Dave pushes all in
Maya IMMEDIATELY (again) pushes all in

ok I have two pair here and Im positive I have the best hand so I go all in as well.

Dave turns up Q6o pair of sixes
Maya J9d <--- on a flush draw
Me 62o two pair

River Ad

PWNED!!!

LAST VICTIM

Me

I had Maya covered here so I still had a few chips left, but Dave was gone. First hand of HU action Maya was on the button, I see that ACE glimmer in her eye and she reaches for chips and makes it 100 to go. I look down at K9c and push all in. Maya calls and turns up KsTc.

Flop Qd 4d Ac

Turn Js PWNED!!!!

River 4s

She broadway`d on her mama!!! Atta girl!!

CONGRATS MAYA!!!

Afterwards a fight insued!!!!!

But not to worry, she was quickly saved when her mother grabbed a rolling pin and hit Dave over the head with it.

Tier One TORTURE...
Ok, so I play my tier one for the day, I battle it all the way down to 5 players (4 gets token, 5th gets $4) when this happens....

I get AQd +1 UTG. Action has been fast with less than superior hands. UTG goes all in. I called pretty quickly, its down to 5 and this thing will never end if I dont. Im pretty positive its a good call. When he turns up A9o Im happy with myself, but of course....

This left me with 475 chips or so, so I was all in in my big blind. Of course just to twist the knife, same guy has 72o and I have J9o, he makes trips.

Should I have folded my AQd? Was it stoopid to call? Did I make a mistake?? Thoughts please.

And the journey continues.....

At least I made $40 before it started on a tip from the dimmers. Major fish alert, ikn0wit, ( 0 is a zero) like to give away his money. So now I can play in Toms turney and the Brawl and FREEROLL it baybeeeeeeeee.

ROUND 1 - ding ding ding...
Ya, cant you just see it, Im the hot girl walking around with the round one sign... ok so thats stretching it a bit...

Anyhoo, Full Tilt Poker`s World Series of Poker qualifiers have started!!! They have lots of different ways to qualify and before the jib is up Im sure Ill try all the different ways, but yesterday I played a freeroll. This is pretty amazing stuff, you register for a FREEroll (this freeroll happens twice daily), you place in the top 36 and you are moved onto the next FREEroll (which is played WEEKLY) that includes the top 36 from the two daily tournaments, the top 9 in this second one move onto ANOTHER freeroll that happens monthly. Here you have the top 9 from each week that month along with some other freeroll qualifiers... HERE the top 20 get WSOP seats!!!! For you visual learners it looks like this:

Well, I had good timing yesterday being Anna is sick and I registered in the first round of one of these freerolls. This is right up my alley because Ive had alot of freeroll practice lately and Ive learned how to get pretty deep in these big fields. I will say, I owe alot of this to Zooks, Red and Cat for playing with me in these freerolls lately and I cant wait to see them (especially Red) tear these FTP freerolls up.

Anyhow, the key (I think) to these things is to pick up some premium hands early and get them paid off. The getting them paid off part is easy, cause early on there are usually 2 or 3 people at your table that are willing to call your all in w a weak ace or a pair of twos (hopefully when you have AK or a higher pocket pair *:)*). So if you arent card dead the first hour, you should come into the second hour with a nice sized stack.

My first table was a Chip Cow. The seat to my right I kept busting and someone new would sit and I would bust them, it was kinda fun!! But of course just as I started to PWN that table I get moved. This table SUCKED and I quickly missed my previous table. The players here all had similar chips stacks as mine and were playing pretty aggressive poker. I managed to pay attention and still pick up a few chips before I got moved again right before the first break.

1st break stats:
My Chips: 5950
Average stack: 4789
Chip Leader: 28k
Turney started with 1571 players, at end of first hour it was down to 492...amazing.

Ok, so the first break is over and I start to get a feel for my new table. Its one of those LIMP LIMP LIMP LIMP tables. Gawd I hate that, but usually you can turn it around if you play it right. Finally, a big stack sits down (theRILES) and starts flinging chips. Good thing I pay attention, or I dont make this call:

Seat 1: ITFC10 (175), is sitting out
Seat 2: cb619 (6,150)
Seat 3: tallkidpoker (3,702)
Seat 4: fear (5,068)
Seat 5: TERMITE BOB (3,607)
Seat 6: khanwoman (5,950) <-- our hero Seat 7: Fast Willie 39 (6,898)
Seat 8: kieran2005 (7,574)<--table idiot
Seat 9: theRILES (16,887)<--big stack and table loose cannon

khanwoman checks
kieran2005 checks
theRILES bets 4,800 <-- he has been doing this alot, throwing out large bets to take down a pot
kieran2005: n catch this is funny to me because this guy thinks RILES actually caught something, after wards I told him, "you mean nice bluff" and he says, "but you werent bluffing" and Im like "I wasnt the one betting, how could I be bluffing" I swear he was just dense.
khanwoman calls 4,750, and is all in so i call, because I think I have the best hand
kieran2005 folds
Uncalled bet of 50 returned to theRILES
*** SHOW DOWN ***
theRILES shows [Th Jh] (two pair, Sevens and Sixes)

khanwoman shows [Ad Jd] (two pair, Sevens and Sixes)
khanwoman wins the pot (14,300) with two pair, Sevens and Sixes

OK, so that was a big hand for me and got me a nice size stack. But of course I had to F it all up shortly after. I know this isnt an AWFUL call, especially with the players Im playing with, but I had already identified cb619 as a non-donk.

GreatDane posts the small blind of 200

khanwoman shows [Ac Qh]

I dont really need to show the rest of the hand.......

But shortly after that I was able to redeem myself by calling down a 3 way pot with middle pair. Something normally I would never do, but theRILES was doing the betting.

*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to khanwoman [Qs Ts]
theRILES raises to 800

*** SHOW DOWN ***
theRILES shows [5d 8d] (a pair of Eights)
cb619 mucks
khanwoman shows [Qs Ts] (a pair of Tens)
khanwoman wins the pot (6,650) with a pair of Tens

The next hand I raised w KQs, right after I raised my FTP client froze up but when it finally unfroze I saw player to my left had raised all in and of course gets a call from Mr chip flinger himself theRILES. The pusher had AQo and theRILES called his all in w QJo.... Q fucking J. What is wrong with these people?!? But anyhow the RNG had to EFF with me and flop two Ks. RNG RNG RNG RNG.

I saw Riles double up at least 15 people before this turney was over and this guy had a stack of over 70k at my final table and was sitting out to get to the top 36. What a disgrace..... (i know its just a freeroll, but my gawd I love this game and I hate to see people like this disgrace it)

Ok 2nd break stats:
11,930 in chips
16k is average
70k is chip leader
144 players remaining

Ok, so I hang on for a while with not much stack movement and the blinds start to get crazy. This is where my biggest poker hole lies. Well, I guess its not so much a hole, but inadequate training. I have issues deep in a turney when the binds are ginormous and it costs so much just to play a hand.

But god damn it I hang on!! And I make it to the top 36!! I actually keep playing for the practice of being short stacked with blinds this high and I make it to finish 27th. Ill take it, not bad for my first try. Now I have to work on that hole in my game so I can make it to the final table of ROUND TWO BAYBEEE!!

Token Quest...
So recently I decided to quit using my tokens for the GTD`s and 200k satellites, and instead use them to work up the tiers. This way I can make some money and should be easier since I do so well in SNGs. Yup, that jinxed me right there.

I used to win a token 2 or 3 times a week. But lately, I cant win one of these damn things!! Ill start with last week, I was in 2 tier ones that lasted over an hour before one person was out .. ONE PERSON!! So naturally it turned into a crap shoot. Then yesterday I made it to last 5 ppl, 4 get the token of coz and I go completely brain dead and do the STOOPIDEST thing EVERRRR. The blinds are 150/300, and the short stack has 500 chips. He is all in next blind comes around practically. Im +1 UTG and the big stack min raises. He had been doing this all the effing time and was getting on my effing nerves so I went all in. I did this before realizing I had JUST told myself to fold ANY hand I had because it was stoopid to try and play. But my brain short circuited and I went all in w A7o... yes my friends A7o. The big stack calls me and what happens??? He has A7 spades. Flop brought a spade, turn spade, river spade... and Im out with no token. It was when the SS says "OMG I MADE IT!!" that I realized how stoopid I had been.

OK, so today is a new day and I thought I would try again. I guess I was distracted by Anna putting tape over my mouth when this happened:

ull Tilt Poker Game #441108909: Tier One: $6+$0.60 Sit & Go (2857487), Table 2 - 30/60 - No Limit Hold'em - 11:44:57 ET - 2006/02/15

Seat 3: JOHNASS (2,425)

Seat 4: Tomotime10 (975)

Tomotime10 shows [Kd Ac]

khanwoman shows [Qd Ad]

*** FLOP *** [9d 2c 7c]

*** TURN *** [9d 2c 7c] [5h]

JOHNASS has returned

*** RIVER *** [9d 2c 7c 5h] [Th]

Tomotime10 shows Ace King high

khanwoman shows Ace Queen high

Tomotime10 wins the pot (2,220) with Ace King high

The blinds are now 40/80

Yes, I know it isnt THAT bad of a call. But I had made a mental note earlier about this fellow. He had raise UTG about 10 hands earlier, I had TT and I called, button called and one of the blinds pushed. Naturally, I folded, but so did he. The button called with K8 spades, and the all in had 66, yes 66. He had commented that he laid TT there, so I knew he wasnt a donk. So, really this call was stoopid, had I thought about it, it would of b een obvious he would push here w AK, cause I would have as well.

So now the blinds are going up, Im very quickly -10BB and shrinking. I push w A7h and pick up blinds. Then I get 33 UTG and fold. Shortly after I am in position, it folds around to me I have 22 so I push since it folds to me. Of coz the SB had KK and Im out....

My quest continues, IF (and thats a big IF) I can quit being stoopid, I may win one of these before the week is out. Ill be sure to let you know ....

Valentines Day...
As I grow wiser in my old age*wink* Ive decided Valentines day is for kids. I mean I loved this holiday when I was a kid, addressing all my valentines to the kids in my class, deciding on who got the best cards in the box cause I liked them better. Finding just the right one for the boy who I had a crush on. Wrapping the shoe box with white paper and decorating it with glitter and hearts, having sweets at school instead of lunch, this was a great day.... when I was 8.

Last night I did this for my girls since they dont seem to do it at school anymore. I got out the shoeboxes, wrapped them in white paper, they had a ball decorating them. I even cut out hearts from aluminum foil, just like the old days. We got out Mayas class list and made sure she had Valentines for everyone. We even made sugar cookies and decorated them with icing and hearts and things.

They dont tell you when you get older its nothing but a pain in the ass. I know Im bitter, but you would be too if you were me.

Happy Valentines.

am: ouch
khanwoman shows two pair, Kings and Sevens
am shows two pair, Aces and Kings
am wins the pot (1,870) with two pair, Aces and Kings
willw9: ew
khanwoman stands up

Is that a bad beat?? Im really wondering. Ive had a bad run the past week or so, losing about $100, thats alot in my book. Whenever I have a bad run I try to figure out whats going on. Its usually a mixture of bad play brought on by odds not working out like they should. Once I identify that, I try to rely on my trusty but true winning strategy, go to a .10/.25 table w $10 and grind it out, quit effing around and play good poker. This tends to get me back on track. Sure enough this weekend I had my first winning sessions all week. Im up about $30-$40 and ready to get my money back.

Speaking of getting my money back, this happened to me yesterday:

OK, so ANOTHER bad beat AND my first losing session in 48 hours and this dickhead gets up and leaves!!! I reload, he leaves. So, Id officially had enough and I figure that "Find Player" feature has to be good for something....Of course as I sat patiently waiting for my opportunity to get my money back, someone else got most of his stack, I mean this guy is a total idiot...seriously

Ive been wanting to start playing the tier sngs on FTP. Zooks has been doing this alot and I wanna be like Zooks. Of course ive played the tier ones for tokens, but I use those in 200k satellites or GTD turneys. Ive never just moved up the next tier, and that is going to be my new venture!!

Oh, and Anna is sick again today!! She started running a fever on Sunday. This poor kid is always sick, I feel so bad for her. About a year ago we were over at my moms house making Christmas Wreaths with the kids in her basement. Anna was only bout a year and a half and wasnt much interested in the craft so she was kinda running around getting into things, all the boxes of stuff in my moms basement n such. All of a sudden we hear her say "MMMMMmmm" and then immediately start to cough and make choking noises. I turn around and she has a Vase filled with some yellow liquid, pouring it into smaller little glasses and drinking it. She had found a bottle of Wood Laquer Remover and decided to have a tea party with it!! She started to not be able to breathe and I rushed her to the ER. She was going limp in my arms, eyes rolling back in her head, it was the scariest moment of my life. She spent a few days in ICU with Hydrocarbon Pneumonia. It hadnt poisoned her, but rather she had asperated it into her lungs. I think this incident has caused her to be more susceptible to colds and coughs ever since, but thats just a moms intuition.

Senseless Ramblings....
I love coffee. It is truly a beautiful thing. I tried drinking green tea once cause some health nut doctor said it would "detoxify" you and make you lose 10 lbs, it was even on Oprah. I love coffee and green tea doesnt make you lose weight. Besides, this is one of my favorite parts of my day, sitting with my coffee and my laptop, catching up on the forum, snuggly little girls all around me, kisses whenever I want them and an annoying cartoon in the background (blues clues is on now, I much prefer Dora).

I love getting things done. I had a great day yesterday for many reasons, but one being I got alot done. Laundry folded, sheets washed, kitchen clean, floors vacuumed, clothes mended and even a trip to Wal-Mart. I really enjoyed getting the sewing maching out yesterday. I asked for a sewing machine last Christmas to do things around the house, curtains and the like. I am in NO way any type of seamstress, but I can however sew a straight line, hem pants and mend holes. I made some curtains in the girls room that I love, upholstered our coffee table and Id really like to make some curtains for the living room, but I just cant decide on fabric. Ive had this pile of clothes that needed to be mended for awhile now and just never got around to it, but one of Mayas school uniforms needed fixed up so I made the time yesterday while the girls were at dance class with my mom.

I love my new vacuum. A few weeks ago we bought a Dyson. This thing rocks. I had a good vacuum before, but it recently went to the dogs or the trash dump. Ive never seen a vacuum pick up so much dirt and with a dog two kids and a husband, my house is no easy task. This thing even does well on my hard floors.

I love Maya. Really, this kid is something else. Shes so smart and SO funny. I got pregnant with Maya when I was 21 (much earlier than Id have liked) and didnt get married till I was 24. So, for awhile it was just Maya and I. Im sure in some way this part of our lives (although she doesnt remember it much) has shaped her in some way. She is NEVER afraid to speak her mind, and I love this about Maya, I taught her to be this way and at times, I regret it. *:)* Ok, so I promised her we would take a little shopping excursion to Wallie World this weekend cause she needs new tights for school. She had also been asking for high heeled boots.. yes.. high heeled boots and shes 6, cause "all her friends have them" WHAT?!?! Shes only in first grade and she already feels like she has to keep up. Now, I try to be a cool mom and compromise, I tell her if she gets the boots they can be her valentines present but she isnt allowed to wear them out of the house. (Hey, Im trying, shes 6 for christs sake) So, we are on our way, she picks out the tunes "Dixie Chicks" I approve. We are singing along, had to make a few stops on the way, blockbuster and bank. One of my favorite Dixie Chicks songs comes on "More Love".
*gets off topic* Now if you dont know this song, I highly suggest you check it out, or the Dixie Chicks entire "Home" album. Im not huge on Coutry music, but I LOVE good music. Here is how the song goes:

"More Love"

I'm so close to you baby
But I'm so far away
There's a silence between us
And there's so much to say
You're my strength, you're my weakness
You're my faith, you're my doubt
We gotta meet in the middle
To work this thing out

More love, I can hear our hearts cryin'
More love, I know that's all we need
More love, to flow in between us
To take us and hold us and lift us above
If there's ever an answer
It's more love

We're afraid to be idle
So we fill up the days
We run on the treadmill
Keep slavin' away 'til there's no time for talkin'
About trouble in mind
And the doors are all closed
Between your heart and mine

More love, I can hear our hearts cryin'
More love, I know that's all we need
More love, to flow in between us
To take us and hold us and lift us above
If there's ever an answer
It's more love

Just look out around us
People fightin' their wars
They think they'll be happy
When they've settled their scores
Let's lay down our weapons
That hold us apart
Be still for just a minute
Try to open our hearts

More love, I can hear our hearts cryin'
More love, I know that's all we need
More love, to flow in between us
To take us and hold us and lift us above
If there's ever an answer
It's more love

I can hear our hearts cryin'
More love, I know that's all we need
More love, to flow in between us
To take us and hold us and lift us above
If there's ever an answer
It's more love
If you see me on aim and wanna hear it Ill be happy to send it to you. Another GREAT one on this album is where they re-do "Landslide". *gets back on topic*

OK, so while I sing this song Maya looks over at me and in all seriousness asks "Mommy, are people in heaven butt naked?" I get a really confused look on my face and look at her and say "Whaaaa??" Maya replies " You know, in heaven, are they naked?" I replied, "I really dont know Maya, I guess its possible." She says quickly in her "tone" that I taught her so well, you know the 'what are you an idiot tone' " people are naked in heaven mom, I saw it on a book, they have wings too, I wish you would pay more attention." I just smiled really big, I love it when shes uses her mind and things shes seen before to make a point.. love it.

But sometimes, Im not so proud. When we get to Wal-Mart we get our cart and I start looking at the stuff they have on shelves right when you walk in, you know the things "on sale" just to see what they have. Maya gets a little ahead of me and all of a sudden I hear in a loud voice coming from about 20 feet away "MOMMY, I WISH YOU WERE SMALLER SO YOU COULD WEAR ONE OF THESE" I look over and Maya is holding up a G String Bikini. Now, after the rush of embarassment passed and I ran over to her and told her how rude that was to yell across the store, i started dying laughing. I mean that is just SOO Maya, she is NEVER afraid to speak her mind, and I mean shes right, if I was smaller I probably would look pretty damned good in one of those *:)* :still laughing:

Anna should be glad shes so damned cute. (ok I LOVE ANNA) Youve seen her, shes freaking adorable. She will get angry if you call her Anna, she will yell back at you "IM NOT ANNA IM DORA!!!" But this girl is a pro. She can lay a guilt trip with the best of em, and she could give a class on throwing fits. But she always ends up climbing on your lap, cuddling in close and giving the best little kisses with giggles. Damn her. When we get home from Wallies Anna is already in full force. She didnt quit yelling/screaming till she finally fell asleep. But at one point she comes up to me, I was sitting in the recliner with my laptop getting ready for AIOF to start, and she says "Mommy, you got boobies??" "Yes Anna", she climbs up on the arm of the recliner "Mommy, what you got boobies for?". Now, I know where this is going, Anna is my second daughter so I am aware that shes working up to, girls are very curious to the things "mommy" has that they dont. So, I choose my answer carefully to her question and I say "To feed babies Anna" she thought about it for a moment, got down and lost interest.

I love sleeping in clean sheets. I mean, is there anything better than a long day and wrapping up in a freshly made bed with just out of the dryer sheets?? Ahhh lifes simple pleasures. Now I had to work for this little moment of pleasure. First, I had to sneak off from Joe who had fallen asleep on the couch, he was in full snore, so I figured Id be able to pull this one off. Next I had to open the noisy laundry room door and fumble around geting the sheets out of the dryer without waking the bear. This was key, you see if he wakes up, I dont get my moment, instead I have to try to fall asleep with his snoring right next to me, so if I dont succeed here my hopes will be dashed. I make it to the bedroom with the pile of sheets, I dont even drop the pillow cases! Next, I have to make a king sized bed all by myself. Those of you that have done this know the challeges, getting those damned pockets to stay put when putting the other corners down. Grrrrr but after a few tries SUCCESS!!! Beds made, pillow cases on, ahhh time for some History channel, snuggle down, bliss. A whole 20 minutes of it before Im rudely interrupted, right on queue, just as Im about to doze off and the door opens. DAMN THE MAN!!! *:)*

Picture of the day... Ode to Buddy

Buddy is our dog. He is just a mutt I picked up at Traders World one weekend looking for a wedding dress. He was only 5 weeks old then, and we had NO idea what a pain in the ass he would become. But Buddy is 4 now and has turned out to be a wonderful loving dog that takes great care of my girls.

Not much to say...
Since Friday, not much to say...

But I did have a few weird things happen this weekend.

Saturday I got to sleep in since the girls were at my sisters Friday night. Maya goa to go to a dance show for the DCDC(Dayton Contemporary Dance Company) on Saturday afternoon with my mother. After she was done we headed back out to my sisters house in Springboro. The plans were to go see the site where she is building her new home, then go look at the model and after go to church with my sister and her husband.

My sister, Bethany (Bette) is pregnant with her first child so they are building a home. She is the smart one in the family, has her masters as a Nurse Anesthetist, was even rewarded the Agatha award when she graduated for being top of her class.

Anyhoo, we drive by her building site, very nice neighborhood with a community pool that I hope to put to good use this summer. Then we head over to the model. As we pull into the development where it is located we see about 4 police cars and a SUV that is a K9 unit. I gue
ss since I have lived in the city my entire life this isn`t a scene that makes me say "OMG". Also the cops let us thru and park, so I figured maybe something was going on at another house, it is whitey mc whiters ville so probably a stolen lawn chair or something. We start to walk up to the model and a cop says "Can I help you??" Bette says "Is the model open?" Cop says "UH NO" in a very condescending tone. So we hop back in the mini van and head down to Cincy to go to my sisters church (which I will touch on in a moment). The next day on the news we find out that the two ladies that run the model home were tied up and raped!! What a scary thought, I mean if I hadnt of been running late, or Maya had not gone to the dance thing with my mom we may have shown up at a very bad time, or a good time I suppose and been able to help these girls. Just makes you think.

So as I said we went on to my sisters church. Now, although I am the prechers daughter ( i know i know that explains alot *evil smile* ) now that I am grown and a little wiser, Im not much of a religeous person. But, my sister goes to this "progressive" church that she raves about and has been asking us to come and check it out. So, I finally decided to take the girls down for their super bowl service. Ya, thats right, a super bowl service!! OK, so we walk in, and this "church" is like walking into a sports arena or a rock concert, people handing out hotdogs, popcorn, tv screens all over with "commentators" doing a pre-service show and even a coffee bar. M`kay, not they type of church im used to. We go to drop off the kids and its all computerized and there are 3 floors of kids space!! OK, so then over to the auditorium. I walk in and this place is gigantic, its an arena type auditorium w THREE balconies. Two jumbotron screens on either side of the stage and the stage is made up like a football field with artificial green turf and the yard lines on it.

Before the service starts there are pre-game "commercials" playing on the jumbotrons with the commentators talking about the players for the super bowl. Not THE superbowl, but the pastor and the associate pastor having a preaching super bowl. And this shit was HILARIOUS. OK, so the service finally starts w a referree coming out and the two pastors making their entrances with their teams and mascots. So they do this back n forth preaching
with the referee throwing a flag on their "play" for things like using too many examples, or rambling on without making a point. Very funny stuff, all the while the commentators making sarcasticly funny comments about their "plays".

Then the half time show starts. Its this three man band called FunkeeBass. All dressed in white and the first song the funk out to is "FAME" OMG WTF Im in church and Im watching a great band cover David Bowie!! I mean this guy was decked out in all white w a white top hat and those big ass funkee glasses on even complete w a prince guitar!!

Anyhow, it finishes off with picking up the girls from their respective rooms and Maya comes out w a steelers tattoo on her face. Needless to say, it was quite the church experience
.

So Sunday was the superbowl, spent my morning cleaning, then over to my dads for chili. We got there about an hour before the bowl and left right after it started cause I had to go to the grocery. So I dropped the lesser half and the girls at home and headed out to the store, didnt take long cause I didnt have much to pick up, just the basics, milk, bread, eggs, pop, those kinds of things. THEN when I got home I pull down to the back of my driveway so I can back into the garage ... my driveway is shaped like a big "h" the round part being a semi circle in front of my house and the l part going straight back past my garage... so I have to pull down there to back up into the garage. Now, my wonderful lesser half never got the leaves (yes i said leaves and its February) out of the driveway, so if we get a little bit of snow or cold weather these things get slick as owl snot. So, I pull down there put my van in reverse and I dont go anywhere, my tires just spin in the frozen leaves. I keep trying and eventually get back into the garage...

So that was my exciting weekend!!

Poker with Illinifan....

It was Friday night, and that means poker at the Legion!! But this week we had a special guest, Illinifan!

I was late getting started, Dave and I headed out about 6:30 or so, but Dave was "STARVING" so we headed over to Red Lobster. (MEN) I had an appetizer and a salad.. Dave got a Steak and Lobster. We headed out of there a little before 8pm and over to the Legion. I got a phone call from Illini on our way over saying he was about 30 mins away (whew) I was hoping since we were running behind he wasnt there yet.

We get to the Legion and I put all of our names on the list, hoping Illini would be there shortly and then bellied up to the bar. When the first SNG filled, Illini wasnt there yet so I took our names off the list and signed us up for the new table. It was only a few minutes after the first SNG made Illini came in. He was wearing his "Topanga Homegrown" shirt and Illinois hat(I was jealous of the shirt, not so much the hat), so I knew who he was right away. We sat and chatted for a bit while we waited for our table to make, and what a nice guy Illini is!!

So a little after 9pm our table made and we were off to the races.

Illini directly to my right.

To my surprise the table wasnt quite as donky as Im used to. My brother Dave took down a couple of nice pots early, Illini and I were being pretty quiet. My mistake at this first table was as follows... I have J5o in the BB. Everyone limps in so I just check of coz. Flop came J high, J34 I believe, so I bet out and get one caller. Turn brought another insignificant card so I bet again and the guy reluctantly calls. Now I start to think ... WTF does this guy have? I had him on either a draw, or a J as well. Flop brought the 2nd runner to make a flush, but I didnt think that was the draw he would have been on so I bet again.. pretty hefty 500 chips. He thinks and thinks and thinks, and says "I guess Ill call, but you hit a flush didnt you?" What?!?! This guy flopped trips, was scared of me out drawing him and never raised me... mk.. so now Im short.
Dave 2 seats to my left.

Illini is now sitting directly on my right after the girl on my right went out first after she was determined to play and raise every hand no matter what cards she had. The guy on my left was a talker talker talker.. he wouldnt shut up. After I got as short as I was, I didnt mind the talking cause I was AIOF at this point. I watch two boards come that my rags would have won (damn it!!) and finally put my 70 chips in w QJ. I got no help, but at least Illini finished me off :D

Ok so Ill head out, get a refill then go check on the action. When I came back in Illini was all in w Q7c against AJo. He hit his 7 on the flop, a second club on the turn and a Q on the river!! WOOOOOOOT!!!

Illini raking in his chips from the Q7c the guy beside him in the red white and blue is who he beat!!

The very next hand his victim went all in, Illini shows me his cards (58o) and says "I hate to fold this buy I have to " HAHAHAHA The Cat hand, and guess what, It woulda flopped a straight!!! So including his Q7 hand for about 4 or 5 hands in a row people are all in with the worst hand hitting, 24o vs AQ and the like. Illini went out in 3rd (or 4th??). I went out 6th I think and Dave went out 7th. Not so good, but we are on the list for the next one.

Illini and I right before the next table was about to sit.

So we sit at the 2nd SNG. Besides the 3 of us there two other guys from our first table. Although, 3 of the other players I had played with before. One being the guy directly to IFs left. He is a good player that Ive played with HU twice before. The guy to his left was a young kid I had tangled with more than once. He is an agressive player that likes to push you out of pots.

So, I was first out of this SNG fallen prey to the young agressive guy (hes on the far right of the photo above with the white hat with blue bill). I was fooling around with my ipod when the hand was dealt, didnt realize he had raised before me, I looked down at KQd and announced a raise, and was informed that someone had already raised (the young guy). So he calls and its just the two of us to the flop which came Ah 3d 6d ( the three and the 6 may be wrong here, but they arent specific to the hand). I had position and he young guy pushed the rest of his chips in faster than I even realized what the flop was. I didnt think he had the ace, I figured he had a small pp and I had a bazillion outs... I called and he had 55 and I didnt hit a thing, even tho the turn brought me a str8 draw as well. I called off my chips because I knew what he had, but I broke one of my crucial rules to early turney play when blinds are low... NEVER NEVER NEVER CALL OFF YOUR CHIPS!!! And that is why.....

Anyhow, Dave and Illini did really well. The final 3 were the two of them and the young guy that took me out. Dave and Illini got heads up and ended up splitting $60 and $40 (Illini had more chips) . When the play got 4 handed Illini was playing EXTREMELY well. He was putting lots of pressure on the other players and making good laydowns. He had the chip lead from about 5 handed down to HU action.. so well done Illini!!!!

I dont have a heap of details cause I played so badly, but check out Illini`s blog... Im sure he will have alot of info too!!

I had fun, altho tired at the end, and It was REALLY fun to get to play at a table with someone I play with almost every day. Illini is a super guy and I hope we get to play again soon!!

I love poker...

Let`s Brawl...
The Bikers Brawl is a private poker tournament I play almost every week. I really enjoy the private tournaments we play on fulltiltforum.com because for some reason I do well in them (I need to start looking into that and figure out why my style of play does so well in these tournaments). Last night, I believe, was my 4th Bikers Brawl win, and from what I can remember Ive taken 2nd twice (including last week).

There were a few KEY hands for me. The first happened earlier on in the turney when I was dealt pocket 7s and raised it up in early position. I had one caller, the BB, so I had position. When the flop came T high I knew I was betting, BB checked I bet out 200 chips into a 300 some chip pot. Then this wanker raised me!! WTF a check raise on a T high flop?? He did it so fast I really thought about my action. I felt there were two reasons he may have done this:
  1. He put me on AK AQ AJ and knew he could get me off my hand cause he had a PP similar to mine. Possibly 5s 6s or 8s.
  2. He had a T, put me on AK AQ or AJ knew I would throw out a continuation bet and decided that was as far as he wanted it to go.

I got my answer later in the turney when I saw him do the same thing two or three times with an over pair, so I`m pretty sure I was beat here. Needless to say, I laid it down and this is why:

  1. In the early stages of the turney it isn`t +EV to play for all your chips when you may have the 2nd best hand. It`s just not worth it. The pot isnt big enough, you aren`t compelled to call, and you are most likely left w 20x BB or MORE at these early stages EVEN when you have chips in the pot.
  2. I never call off all my chips unless I was trapping.

Anyone that may have trouble with early stage turney play, these are two CRITICAL factors that should be used in your decision making.

After this fiasco, I just kept grinding away and had picked up a few pots here and there. Luck is NEVER a bad thing in poker and well, that is all I can say for this next KEY pot. Not only did this make my stack look purdy, but I think it really threw people off AND helped me get lots of action that followed. (the hand history for this hand has disappeared....)

I was dealt 74o, this is my "bluffing hand" and I raise it up (OK OK so its not MY bluffing hand, its Rogers (CailtyssRulien) but he was watching me play and I was trying to show off ) *cheezy smile*. I get a caller!! I really didnt think I would, I was purely going for a steal attempt here. Sure enough the flop comes 4 7 K and i KNEW this guy had AK or KQ so I bet about half the pot to induce him to come over the top and sure enough he did. Before I called him, I apologized and explained it was a steal gone bad then really good. I called, and he was out of the tournament.

The Final Table (final 9 players) was pretty slow moving at first. Again, I picked up a few small pots along the way. Now, for this next CRUCIAL hand I want to give a little back ground. I consider myself a pretty tight but agressive player. At times I can tend to play a little more passively depending on my table, but for the most part I like to take my mama`s advice and choose my battles wisely. This table image is pretty apparent most of the time, and it can cause some ill effects, including, people thinking Im weak and trying to push me off hands. One example was the situation earlier where the player check raised me, but this situation is a PERFECT example of someone who KNOWS how I play and trying to take advantage of it. But boys, you have to remember, I do know my table image, so watch your step: *wink*

Ok, so now I was set up and ready to play some pokah. From here on out I thought I had done the deck some kind of favor that it felt obligated to pay me back for. I think I had KK dealt to me 6 times after this hand, AK like gum bought in wholesale and even an AA every now and then for flavor. But the more amazing thing was that my hands werent just holding, but hitting. So, if you aren`t into hand histories .. stop reading now and just know that I won :)

Here is another instance when a pretty sick call gets paid off. After all luck IS a factor in this game. This overbet by slippo was pretty fishy, it was either trips or he missed his hand... well I was wrong but it worked out.

Ok, so we get down to three handed. At first I am 2nd in chips cause Computer God takes down a big pot. But soon Im 1st in chips and 3rd in chips is really short, like 2k and under. My philosophy in short handed play when the SS has barely any chips is to not revive him. There is no purpose in that. At the same time, I dont want him to get alot of walks either. If you keep him short and call or put him all in with a decent hand, even if you do double him up hes short and you will get him next time. But my advice, dont call him w any two cards, cause a chip and a chair. This next hand was one where I was simply raising the SS big blind because I had an ace and didnt want him to get a walk. Of course in this situation if he pused I was obligated to call.

Ok HU action time. I had a bit of a chip lead and was trying to use it. My opponet, I felt, was playing semi tight. When I have an opponet like this I try to see flops. This was a big hand, really the first one we played past the flop. He timed out at the end, and said it wasnt on purpose, but he was right there the very next hand, so I dunno bout that.

This hand crippled him. He had less than 2k chips left. When he said he timed out on accident I told him that I had the str8 if that makes him feel better and he said NH, so Im assuming I had him beat, which I thought anyways. Again, I wasnt excited about doubling him up. He kept pushing on his button, I called once when I had KTd, He had 93o and he hit his 3. No worries, I widdled him back down a bit, he kept pushing and this following hand was the last time he pushed.
